Arthroscopy: Diagnosis & Treatment


Overview

Arthroscopy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure used to examine and treat joint conditions with the aid of an endoscope. It is performed for both diagnostic and therapeutic purposes to address joint abnormalities.


Types of Arthroscopy

  • Shoulder Arthroscopy – Used for conditions such as rotator cuff injuries, adhesive capsulitis (frozen shoulder), and calcific tendinitis.

  • Knee Arthroscopy – Performed for meniscus tears, degenerative arthritis, and cruciate ligament injuries.

  • Wrist Arthroscopy – Used for various joint pathologies affecting wrist mobility and function.

Indications for Knee Arthroscopy

  • Persistent knee pain despite normal X-ray results.

  • Frequent fluid accumulation in the knee joint.

  • Pulling pain in the popliteal fossa or inability to fully extend the leg.

  • Fatigue and pain while walking, affecting mobility.
