Spinal Cancer: Diagnosis & Treatment
Overview
Spinal cancer includes all types of tumors affecting the spine and spinal cord, both primary and metastatic. The most common symptom is lower back pain (lumbalgia).
Diagnosis
If a spinal tumor is suspected during a neurological examination, an MRI or CT scan is prescribed to confirm the diagnosis.
Treatment
The main goal of treatment is the complete removal of the tumor. The choice of surgical method depends on factors such as the patient’s age, overall health, tumor type, and whether it is primary or metastatic.
Benign tumors: If small, non-growing, and not compressing adjacent tissues, dynamic monitoring is recommended in the early stages.
Malignant tumors: Require a combination of surgery, radiotherapy, and drug therapy for effective treatment.
Cost of Diagnosis & Treatment: 35,000,000 – 37,000,000 KRW
